The first time I met Max Yearwood was on a blind date.
Max was insanely gorgeous, funny, and our chemistry was off the charts. He also had the biggest dimples I’d ever laid eyes on.
Exactly what I needed after my breakup.
Or so I thought…
Until my real date arrived.
Turned out, Max wasn’t who I was there to meet. He only pretended to be until my real date showed up.
To say I was disappointed would be an understatement.
Before he left, he slipped me a ticket to a hockey game a few blocks away, in case things didn’t work out on my actual date.
I tossed the ticket into my purse and went about trying to enjoy the man I was supposed to meet.
But my real blind date and I had no connection.
So on my way home, I decided to take a chance and stop by the game.
When I arrived, the seat next to me was empty.
Disappointed again, I decided to leave at the end of the period.
Just before the buzzer, one of the teams scored, and the entire arena went crazy.
A player’s face flashed up on the Jumbotron. He was wearing a helmet, but I froze when he smiled.
You guessed it: Dimples.
Apparently, my fake blind date hadn’t invited me to watch hockey with him, he’d invited me to watch him play.
And so began my adventure with Max Yearwood.
He was everything I needed at the time—fun, sexy, up for anything, and only around for a few months since he’d signed with a new team three-thousand miles away.
Max proposed we spend the summer helping me forget my ex. It sounded like a good plan. Things couldn’t get too serious when we had an expiration date. Right?
Though, you know what they say about the best-laid plans.

****My Review ****

Vi Keenland and a new love story … sizzling chemistry and lots of swoon-worthy moments overloaded, right? Well, certainly something I expected to buy me from the start. I was expecting actions that would immediately get tangled up and manage to arouse my curiosity, as well as the desire to read it in one single breath… But maybe I am part of that minority that this short and sweet summer adventure where ‘no strings attached’ turned into lived happily ever after did not experience it the way I was hoping……

Georgia is a young and successful young lady who can not escape from the jaws of everyday life, can not overcome her fears, and tries to establish complete control over her entire boring existence …. one blind date .. an unexpectedly insolent and sexy-as-sin stranger and all the rules change, all the hidden desires come to the surface, and hidden passions culminate …. How can we say no to an offer that awakens all the senses?

Vi Keenland is absolutely an author who has long managed to please me as a reader and keep my attention with her incredible storytelling skills and style that fully ticks all the boxes… But unfortunately, here simply as much as I tried, I could not empathize with the main character, nor did I feel the magic that the books of this author usually offer. I wanted to peek into the psyche of the heroine, to form a connection with her, to identify with her decisions and thoughts, but it was quite the opposite…… The heroine is a character whose actions are absolutely questionable and extremely irrational, at least according to me. To try to stay faithful to someone who without any problem left her, claiming he needed space and an open relationship is downright absurd. And although I liked certain parts of her character, such as overcoming her learning difficulties, her devotion and success as a businesswoman, etc., she simply lacks a backbone and determination to change her reality and reach for her dreams. Yes, it must be admitted that she changed towards the end, but all in all, she’s without any doubt not my cup of tea.  Max is an interesting character who with his flashbacks offers a slightly different perception of the whole story. Provocative and determined, he is categorically one scale better than his partner, but he also lacks to be fresh, poignant, and instantly recognizable as we are already used to characters created by this author. Their relationship felt somehow forced, too insta everything, without enough depth or actions that would allow us to feel the butterflies, the birth of new love. To feel the trembling when the life paths of these two characters merge, the first sparks, the first touches …. Yes, it must be acknowledged that there were some sweet and LOL moments in this story, but in my opinion, too little to delight me.

And I may be one of the few who barely managed to make it to the end, but I think this story is just a faint shadow of all those richly detailed, intricately plotted romantic worlds that this author has created.
